Europe Fair

The 9th of May 1950, Robert Schuman presented his proposal related to a new European order essential for safeguarding peaceful relations. This proposition, known as ‘Schuman Declaration’, is considered as the birth of the European Union. Nowadays, the 9th of May became a European symbol such as the flag, the anthem, the motto and the common currency (the Euro) which identifies the European Union as a political entity. Based on the decision of the European Council in 1986 it is celebrated all over Europe and even throughout the whole month of May.

Within the Houses of Europe, we defend the idea that the European spirit is forged from very specific daily actions that give an identity to European policies. One of its best examples is probably the amazing project of the ‘Ambassadors of European Values’, currently carried out by the MEBA . Since the beginning of the school year around thirty French and European youths from seven different countries have been working in schools, associations and communities to talk about Europe in their own words, through their experiences and values. The feedback we get is outstanding and proves that it is worth all the European Union’s institutional incentives. We are here in the factual, in the real, in the exchange, in the encounter, in the depth of the intercultural.

For us, the ‘Celebration of Europe’ (Fête de l’Europe) is a privileged moment of exchanges with the public. It is part of the ‘Beautiful Month of Europe’ (Joli Mois de l’Europe) which is coordinated by the headquarters of the Regional Council of Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Through expositions, conferences, concerts, encounters, games, tastings and debates we give you the possibility to learn more about the European Union and its impact in the entire area of Gironde and Bordeaux Métropole.

All Europeans are welcome. Do not hesitate to join us!
